No no no! Here’s what you can’t do, ABC! You can’t make an overt reference to another of your television shows in a television show where one of the main characters is also a main character in the referenced show! It’s rude. What are we, dumb? What you’re doing here is telling us that Flash Forward takes place in the LOST universe, by giving us an advertisement for an airline that was created SPECIFICALLY for that show. BUT WE CAN’T BELIEVE YOU BECAUSE THE MAIN CHARACTER’S WIFE IS ALSO PENNY WIDMORE. Crossover fail.
Oceanic Airlines has been in use as a generic airline for TV & movies way before LOST did it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceanic_Airlines
It’s not about crossovers. Although JJ Abrams (& ABC) is a fan of using it often.

Good point. I think that information was in my head somewhere. Still, this one has the LOST-specific logo. Featuring it here is a very transparent reference to LOST - whether or not the name has been used elsewhere in popular culture is almost irrelevant, since this billboard is obviously pointing to one specific ABC show that is based almost entirely around a plane crash. It has to be about crossovers, otherwise the billboard could have been for anything. A Robert J. Sawyer novel, perhaps. Why bother linking these two shows? After looking at your link, Starline, the part about Flash Forward says that this billboard boasts the tagline “Perfect Safety Record.” Were this actually a crossover, and these worlds the same world, that would obviously be wrong. I know whoever did this just wanted to screw with people, and that I shouldn’t be thinking about it this much. Whatever.Upon further further reflection, I’m an idiot. Duly noted.
